It is the most southern town in Tuscany and on the environmental context in which it and the art-historical importance assumed in the Renaissance, is a land of hill: perched on a hill overlooking the Maremma. But it is also sea village with its waterfront site on the Costa d’Argento. Capalbio was nicknamed the little Athens. In addition, the municipality has been awarded with the “ Cinque Vele”, an award for its clean sea waters, and the top spot in the “Blue Guide” Legambiente-Italian Touring Club 2007 for the protection and careful management of its beaches, landscape and environment.
The Tarot Garden is one of the main attractions of the Maremma, a place to visit and appreciate for its peculiarity. It lies in the small village of Garavicchio, in the town of Capalbio. It was created by the brilliant French-American artist Niki de Saint Phalle, that within 10 years has created a masterpiece of great beauty.
